Tourist Attractions in Chakrata

Chakrata is a army cantonment area restricted for foreign citizens as per government of India notification.

Chakrata lies between the Tons and Yamuna rivers, at an elevation of 2118 m, 98 km from the state capital, Dehradun. Chakrata was originally a cantonment of the British Indian Army. To the west lies Himachal Pradesh, and to the east are Mussoorie (73 km) and Tehri Garhwal.

Chakrata is less populated and less polluted Hill Station, being less known destination it caries the very essence which one expects hustle free few moments in peace.

Ashok Stambh, Kalsi

Ashoka rock edicts at Kalsi written around 250 BCE, have historical significance in Indian history is a tourist attraction site.

The site of Ashoka inscriptions in Kalsi is singularly unique in that its the only place in North India where the Maurya Emperor has inscribed the set of 14 Rock Edicts. The language of edicts in Prakiti and in script is Brahmi.

Budher-Moila Danda

Main attraction to witness vast Himalayan mountain range from top.

Must visit place Kanasar located at 30 km from main Chakrata at 2100 metter above sea level. Kanasar is a true beauty which nature provides us. Covered by thick & dense forest Kanasar ideal destination which hills provides.
Kanasar is a forest reserve area covered by deodar forest is best place for bird watching, village tours, trekking, hikking, camping.

Sunset point – Thana Danda

Situated at 4 km from main Chakrata Sunset point(thana danda) offers beautiful scenic view to witness sunset and surrounding mountains. Place gives so pleasant feel of clear sunset.

Beautiful destination situated 13 km from main Chakrata, best place to visit for bird watching and to experience surrounding mountains. Situated at height around 9500 ft from sea level Deoban surrounded by dense forests and offers scenic views. Tiger Fall (Kailu Pachaad)

Tiger fall is main tourist attraction in Chakrata, Situated 18 km from Chakrata is a beautiful water stream, falling into a small pond from height 312 feet creating sound of roaring tiger, which named after this Tiger fall. Breathtaking surroundings, dense forest and a beautiful water stream makes it worth place one must visit. Guests can take a dip in clear water of the stream and have experience of life time.
